It’s a new Lunar Year..A new year new YOU!

Happy Chinese New Year! Start to  EAT, MOVE and LIVE better today with help from Family For Health.

Most of us put EAT better, exercise or MOVE better, lose weight, feed our kids better, LIVE better on our 2014 New Year Resolution list. Quite frankly, most of us put that on EVERY new year’s resolution list.

How are those resolutions going? Are you on track or do you need some help? We can help you.  With the beginning of the Chinese New Year (or new Lunar year), take the opportunity to reset your new year’s resolutions.  

Preparation for a “New You” real food program

I have a super easy program that I am super-excited to share with you on an upcoming post. The kids have even helped in preparing many of the recipes and have commented that the results were delicious!  This will help you achieve your optum health…isn’t that what we all want?

But, first I want to quickly help you get mentally prepared for it. This is what Michael and I had to do because we were not on track with our 2014 New Year’s resolutions. We blame it on having too many holiday goodies, the bar filled with too many delicious cocktails at New Year’s Eve and our Anniversary a week after that. Excuses, excuses… We all have them. We just have to get past them!

So our New Year’s resolution to EAT better gets started a little late almost every year. We are human. And that’s probably why I am mentally excited for a clean slate with Chinese New Year! Whatever your reasons are for not keeping your New Year’s resolutions, forget about them! Start with a clean slate.

Making a choice to EAT better is a mind shift. And, the first thing you can do to get mentally prepared to EAT better is to take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, one food choice at a time. Just make that choice to eat and feed your children the healthier real food one food choice at a time. Remember, small changes make a big impact over time.

We are trying to help you make a healthy lifestyle change and not have you chained down to a diet. Having a healthy lifestyle is about creating new habits. New healthy habits to make healthy food choices and guess what? Over time, your body and your children’s bodies will crave the healthy foods. I know, it sounds crazy and impossible but it is that simple and that true.  Just stick with it!

It is possible and you can do it! The first and most important step is to make a mind shift to EAT BETTER.  It all starts with your fork!

And, most importantly, if you don’t make a good food choice, PLEASE do not beat yourself up over it. Scientific studies have proven that foods will have more adverse effects on you if your mental state was negative or is negative after eating the food. Our minds are so powerful!

So, just acknowledge that it wasn’t what was best for you and move on towards focusing on a better food choice the next time. It’s like we tell our children when they are goofing around, running, fall down and scrape their knee. We say, things like “Let’s brush it off”. And your child gets right back up and starts running again.

We don’t say, “You scraped your knee, you are so bad, you are terrible…” Your child will probably cry and feel more hurt physically and emotionally. The same goes for us parents! We don’t have to say, “I can’t believe I ate all of those cookies, I am so bad, I am just terrible…” Just stop, brush it off and make a mind shift!

Let’s learn from what we are teaching our children. Don’t beat yourself up. Brush it off and move forward! And, guess what? You don’t even need a new calendar year or a new lunar year to get started on your resolutions to EAT BETTER. Just remind yourself that you are only one meal away from getting back on track!
