The War on Gluten is our Modern-Day War on Tobacco!
Elaine and I have recently started this blog which is focused on sharing and encouraging a healthy family journey through food, fitness, faith and fun. You can click here to learn why we began this blog. What you may not know is that I have embarked upon a personal challenge to dive deep into the tenets of functional medicine and healing health and wellness. My goal is to develop my knowledge to the capacity that empowers me to provide the support to others to improve their health and lifestyle, step by step, day by day!
My first area of focus is with the gluten epidemic that is facing our society. You can read my recent article on how to avoid gluten sensitivity symptoms here. Why is gluten an epidemic? Why am I so impassioned by this topic? Well, Dr. William Davis, best-selling author of “Wheat Belly” claims that America’s biggest problem (concerning their weight) is wheat. Wheat is the culprit that is making us fat because wheat is an evil crack-like substance that gets us hooked and contains more sugar than a candy bar. He also compares the USDA Food and Drug administration to the tobacco industry in that they are helping the “Big Food” companies like Kraft and General Mills stay rich by selling Americans unhealthy and addictive wheat products and labeling these as “heart healthy”.
“Just as the tobacco industry created and sustained its market with the addictive property of cigarettes, so does wheat in the diet make for a helpless, hungry consumer. From the perspective of the seller of food products, wheat is the perfect processed food ingredient: The more you eat, the more you want. The situation for the food industry has been made even better by the glowing endorsements provided by the US government urging Americans to eat more ‘healthy whole grains’.”
Why am I writing this appeal to you?
For those of you familiar with crowdsourcing platforms, this is my own personal Kickstarter-like campaign, only at no-cost to you. Next week, November 11-17, the world’s first Gluten eSummit will take place online. This will be a completely FREE online conference comprising of a series of online interviews of 29 of the world’s experts and opinion leaders on the topics of gluten-related disorders, nutrition. I will be following this summit closely throughout the week and it is my goal to share insight I learn via our blog and facebook page.
How is this my Kickstarter-like campaign? What is my appeal to you? Quite simply, I am asking you to register for the event at OnlineGlutenSummit.com. Registration is completely free and requires you to do nothing. However, with registration, you will have full access to one of up to 5 interviews during a 24 hour viewing period. When the next 24 hour period begins, another round of interviews will become available for viewing during the following 24-hour period. By the 17th, all 29 interviews will have been aired.
That’s it! No pressure to do, or commit to, anything!
Aside from wanting to make you aware of the incredible information that is about to air next week, which can have an amazing impact on your health and that of your family’s, I stand to gain an additional wealth of information that will be available if a minimum of 20 people register for free through my registration link at OnlineGlutenSummit.com.
I believe that this additional information will be the catalyst that allows me to take my personal challenge to the next level.
Will you help me by registering for the online gluten summit today? If you do, I hope that you are able to listen to some of the interviews. If not, as I mentioned above, I will provide summaries of the day’s interviews for your reading pleasure. I trust that there will be some tidbit of information that will resonate with what you hear and will plant a seed to benefit your health in some fashion or another!
Are you interested in hearing a little preview of what the week has to offer? If so, then take a look at the intro video by Dr. Tom O’Bryan announcing his Gluten Summit:
Will you help to Kickstart my passion to a new level? I hope so!
