Do you have brain envy?
If not, you should!
Because of the Brain and Body Turnaround, I now have Brain Envy!
We were blessed to be able to represent our Family For Health tribe at the 2014 Brain & Body Turnaround, the signature annual event put on by the Amen Clinics and led by Dr. Daniel Amen and his wife Tana Amen, B.S.N., R.N..
Dr. Amen, is a physician, double-board certified psychiatrist, teacher and eight-time New York Times bestselling author of Healing ADD, The Daniel Plan and Change Your Brain, Change Your Body. Dr. Amen is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on applying brain imaging science to everyday clinical practice. (Click here to read my summary of Dr. Amen’s presentation at the Gluten Summit.)
Tana Amen is the New York Times Best Selling Author of Eat Healthy with the Brain Doctor’s Wife Cookbook and The Omni Diet, a nurse, highly respected health and fitness expert, a nationally renowned speaker and media guest.
The Brain & Body Turnaround provided a perfect blend of science, practicality and simple and effective tools that will immediately be incorporated into my life.
After experiencing the event and digesting my thoughts for a day, I’ve identified 2 major take-aways. Here they are:
1. You are not stuck with the brain you have!
This is so powerful, I have to repeat it…Your are not stuck with the brain you have.
In other words, the brain you have today, whether it’s sick or healthy, is not the brain you have to take to your grave. You have the power to change the health of your brain! The actions you take today, can send your brain in the direction of health, or in the direction of disease. What’s it going to be for you?
The scientific and clinical research is clear. So is the more than 90,000 brain scans that the Amen Clinics have amassed over the years. A healthy brain is associated with happiness, physical health, success and wealth.
In comparison, as Dr. Amen has claimed, “when your brain is not healthy, you are sicker, sadder, less successful and poorer.”
Do you love your child? Do you aim to keep your child healthy so that they can grow to be successful adults?
In similar fashion, why would you not love your brain and take care of its health so that it can continue doing its thing for a long time?
It is the only brain you have! You MUST Love your brain!
2. Care. Stop. Do.
These 3 simple words, 3 syllables, simplify the core of Dr. Amen’s message.
If you want to improve the health of your brain, you simply need to Care, Stop and Do.
— Care for your brain and dedicate the attention it deserves;
— Stop doing what is unhealthy for your brain, including being overweight, eating processed food and having negative thoughts; and
— Do the right things for your brain everyday, including eating healthy, eliminating toxins, exercising and thinking positively!
These 2 aha moments have the power to create a paradigm shift in you that will shape your future!
What will you do with this information?
Will you love your brain, or will you hate it?
